How to Open Zerodha Account

In this article, I am going to show how you can open Demat account with Zerodha

Documents Required to Open an Account With Zerodha

#1. PAN card

#2. Address Proof: Aadhaar card/Voter Id/ Driving License/Passport with self-attestation.

#3. 2 Passport size photos.

#4. Canceled Cheque / Bank statement to link your bank account, or if your cheque is not personalized then upload the bank statement having both the IFSC and MICR code.

#5. Income Proof: It is compulsory to submit income proof if you want to trade in future and options or to trade commodities, equity, and currency.

You are Requested to Submit Only One of The Below Documents.

  • Form-16
  • Income Tax Acknowledgement letter
  • Last 6 months Bank statement
  • Latest salary slip
  • Demat Holding statement

Steps to Open an Account with Zerodha

Scenario 1

If you have an Aadhar card linked Mobile number, then follow the below mentioned.

You can directly access the zerodha webpage through the link https://signup.zerodha.com/ and then need to follow the below simple steps to open an account in Zerodha.

Step 1: Fill the Details

Name:

Mobile Number:

Email Id:

Enter the basic information, and click on to the continue to signup option.

Step 2: Set Your Password

To set your password you have to wait for 24 hours, and then click on forgot the password.

You will get a link to reset your password, which expires within 24 hours.

Enter a strong and unique password, and click continue

Step 3: Enter Your Pan Card Details

Make sure that you enter the details without any mistake

Step 4: Fees to Be Paid

Here you have 2 options

#1. Equity and currency: 300 rupees

#2. Commodity: 200 rupees

You can choose any one of them or both the options. It is advisable to choose Equity and currency options if you are new.

Step 5: Bank Account Details

After you have completed the payment process you will be asked to enter the bank account details.

Step 6: Background Information

Here you have entered the required details.

Now click on the radio button, Yes, I agree and continue to the next step.

Step 7: Digital Sign

If you want to open the account offline, you need to download the application form and courier it to the Zerodha head office.

If you want to open the account online, then you will be asked to digitally sign the application using your aadhar card and click continue.

After completing the process you need to digitally sign using the mobile OTP.

Step 8: Bank Account Details

Here you need to enter the bank account details

Step 9: Proof Documents

Here you have an upload bank statement or canceled cheque as bank proof.

If you want to trade in the future and options then you have to upload income proof.

Step 10: E-sign Equity

After uploading the required documents, scroll down the page, then you will see an option eSign Equity

Select the option and eSign the documents using aadhar mobile OTP.

After completing the above process, you need to take a print of the following

#1. Proof of Address (POA) for Demat and Sign on F3 and F4 only.

#2. Electronic Contract Note (ECN) for commodity and sign on F9.

#3. Nominee page (if applicable) with nominee id proof and sign on F7.

Dispatch the same duly signed (POA and ECN) to the below-mentioned address.

Scenario 2

If you do not have an Aadhar card linked Mobile Number, then you need to follow the below process.

#1. All the above-mentioned documents which were required to open an account and both the application forms (Trading and Demat account and Commodity account) to be printed on the A4 size papers.

#2. Signatures had to be done as per the PAN card (if any difference in the signature alternative proof to be provided).

#3. Nothing has to be filled in the form, other than signatures.

#4. For a joint account, separate Know your Client (KYC) form is required for all the holders along with the proofs.

#5. Second and Third holders (if any) should sign only the Demat form marked S or T.

#6. Mention your annual income, occupation, marital status, and mothers name on PAN photocopy.

#9. Dispatch the duly signed forms and documents to the below-mentioned address.

This completes the Zerodha account opening process and you will receive your client-id and password within 24-48 hours.
